Was ist ein Herz-Kreislauf-Versagen?

Ich erkläre es vielleicht einfach mal so: das Herz pumpt das Blut durch den Körper im Blutkreislauf. Im Körper werden die einzelnen Organe mit Sauerstoff und Nährstoffen versorgt, das muss kontinuierlich passieren. Wenn das Gehirn nur 15 Sekunden nicht versorgt wird, dann werden wir bewusstlos und dann müssen unmittelbar Maßnahmen eingeleitet werden, um den Kreislauf in irgendeiner Art und Weise wieder herzustellen.

Wie erkenne ich einen kritischen Herz-Kreislauf-Zustand?

Die wichtigste Ursache für ein akutes Herz-Kreislauf-Versagen ist der sogenannte Herzinfarkt. Ein Herzinfarkt kündigt sich in den allermeisten Fällen dadurch an, dass ein Mensch Schmerzen in der linken Brust hat, die häufig auch in den linken Arm, auch in den Unterkiefer ausstrahlen. Diese können aus heiterem Himmelauftreten, auch beispielsweise bei Stress und sind sehr stark. In diesem Moment muss man unmittelbar professionelle Hilfe holen, also den Notarzt alarmieren und den Patienten nicht mehr alleine lassen, weil ein Herz-Kreislauf-Versagen kann jederzeit und unmittelbar die Folge sein.

Eine Person ist auf der Straße ohnmächtig – was ist zu tun?

Das Erste ist, ich schaue, ob der Mensch ansprechbar ist. Wenn er ansprechbar ist, ist ihm vielleicht nur schlecht geworden. Wenn er nicht ansprechbar ist, dann schau ich, atmet er noch? Und das ist gar nicht so einfach. Darum sagen wir, wenn keine normale Atmung vorhanden ist, wenn man also nicht sicher sieht, ob jemand normal atmet, dann muss man Erste Hilfe rufen, professionelle Hilfe, der Notarzt muss kommen. Man muss schauen, kann jemand helfen, hat jemand eine medizinische Ausbildung und dann muss man mit Wiederbelebungsmaßnahmen anfangen.

Ich bin Professor für Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin an der Uniklinik Köln und leite dort die entsprechende Klinik.

Zur Anästhesie gehört die Notfallmedizin und ein wichtiger Teil in der Notfallmedizin ist die Wiederbelebung des Menschen.

Ich beschäftige mich auch wissenschaftlich seit Jahren mit dem Thema der Wiederbelebung. Wir haben eine ganze Reihe an wichtigen Untersuchungen hierzu durchgeführt und veröffentlicht. Ich bin gleichzeitig der Vorsitzende des Europäischen und des Deutschen Wiederbelebungs-Rates.

Das Uniklinik Köln ist eine der führenden Universitätskliniken in Deutschland. Sie gehört zu den größten und ist auch in den letzten Jahren am schnellsten gewachsen.

Die Klinik für Anästhesiologie und Intensivmedizin in der Uniklinik Köln ist natürlich auch zuständig für die inner-klinische Notfallmedizin. Wir haben allein in dieser Klinik 120 ärztliche Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter.
